Crown Reductions

A crown reduction can alleviate the overbearing presence of a dominant tree, and remove unwanted weight from branch tips. Appropriate pruning technique ensures minimal wounding whilst keeping the natural shape and form intact.

This reduction is often carried out as an overall percentage of the crown e.g. 15-25%. Professional guidance suggests that any more than 25% reduction is detrimental to the tree’s health. If a more extensive crown reduction is required, this can be done in stages over 2-3 seasons which protects the tree’s health and vitality.
